Keeping pace requires a different approach to developing operational capability.So that is exactly what we are doing.

On September 4, Niagara College and the Canadian Emergency Responders Robotics Association (CERRA) signed a Strategic Collaboration Agreement built around bringing end users, academia, researchers and industry together from the beginning.

The objective is simple: shorten the path between identifying an operational need and developing, evaluating and integrating a capability that addresses it.

Across air, ground and water, robotics, autonomous systems, sensors and other emerging technologies are advancing rapidly. By connecting emergency responders directly with researchers, educators and Canadian technology developers, we can identify capability gaps earlier, evaluate emerging technologies against real operational requirements and accelerate promising solutions toward operational use.

Niagara College’s growing defence and public-safety programs provide an important platform to help make that happen.

This is more than a partnership. It is an opportunity to create a faster, more collaborative model for developing capability in Canada.

It was a privilege to sign the agreement alongside Niagara College President Sean Kennedy and MP for Niagara South Fred Davies.
